New and Exciting 🤩 Introducing our guest blogger Gemma Thurgood

Hi, I'm Gemma and I currently reside in the Wirral/Liverpool North West.

My dad had me into foraging at an early age without really knowing. I was always looked upon as the odd one at school. I'd rather be sat with the herd of cows feeding them cows parsley 😂😂 my fondest memories are sat upon my dad's shoulders learning while we walked the Staffordshire countryside.

As I grew into a late teen young adult I drifted from plants to horses 🐎 I worked for a British dressage rider and had a stint at a racing yard in Sussex.

Then I became a mum of 4...during the 1st lockdown, my interest in plants sparked again while taking my youngest out.  From that came a world of new culinary dishes and a whole world of new foraging friends and followers.

I love creating dishes with what the Wirral has to offer...I run courses on foraging.

Foraging Courses - Wirral

Your day will start at approximately 9.30 am with arrival at the designated venue, to be confirmed near each date.  Whilst awaiting the other fellow foragers you will be welcomed with either a foraged tea or a shot of foraged-infused vodka or gin to warm your cockles.

After introductions, we will head out to one of the Wirral wild delights to discover a vast array of wild edibles that surround us.

Throughout the morning you will discover plants that taste of vanilla to weeds that taste of pineapple, young green shoots tastier than asparagus, seeds to keep you energised and leaves to help you achieve lucid dreams.  

Maybe some folklore along the way which surrounds many plants.

The day will be rounded off with a lunch using foraged ingredients.🌿✨️💚🌸🌹🍄🧄

Dogs are welcome on all forages as long as they are well-behaved and get on with others as I bring my little doggy along too.
